Issues that people are concerned about: Housing
Housing, another red hot topic Singaporeans are talking about during the elections. Will the HDB price go down? Will higher-income couples have subsidy to buy HDB? These are the common questions asked. The reasons in which ignited these concerns are the soaring house prices and the long waiting list for a house. Statistics show that from the first quarter of 2006 to the first quarter of this year, the went up from 101.8 to 174.8, an increase of 71.7 per cent. The rapid population growth in the country resulted in the sudden demand for housing, thus creating the long wait for a house. Different parties has different opinions on this issue. The NSP and SDP had suggested that HDB flat prices should be priced according to costs, not the current method of pegging them according to market prices of resale flats, and then discounting the price. However, the WP wants HDB flat prices pegged to median incomes so that more Singaporeans can afford it. So, what do you think sbout the housing issue in Singapore? Tell me by commenting!
